you are where you need to be...

These quotes sum it all up for me at the moment. Namely, my frustration at not being where I want to be... deciding where/what that is ...and the single-mindedness needed to achieve it.  Although I am a determined person, this is far outweighed by my ability to be distracted/influenced by other paths.

(I am desperately clinging to the hope offered by the Julia Child quote):

diy wrappping

My favourite way to wrap presents at any time of year is to use simple brown paper and ribbons or string. Pinterest has proven to be a great source of inspiration again for variations on this theme, showing that wrapping can be personal, original but thrifty...

I love the idea of using paint colour cards as vibrant gift tags, or machine-sewing envelopes from book pages, or just wrapping lace and string round brown paper.

All images above are sourced from Pinterest boards, the ribbon ball is by The Lonely Heart on etsy.com.

cosy nice-ness

Now the glorious (& much appreciated) October heatwave seems to be over, I can no longer fool myself that it is summer. So, my mind is back to thoughts of open fires, knitwear and our forthcoming trip to the Yorkshire Dales for my birthday! Here are a few of my seasonal favourites, with a little help from Pinterest (the Dickins & Jones cardy I already have!)

september teal & gold

Autumn is well and truly in the air now, my favourite time of year. This month has been a real in-between-summer-and-autumn month. A combination of stormy skies, sun and flashes of autumn colour.  The colour combination of teal and gold has caught my eye lately and thanks to my recent discovery of Pinterest, here's a little collection perfect for September:
